Supplemental Materials
The following PowerPoint and video are for Stone’s chapter on Liberty, your assignment for week 6. We will also have this material available for that week. It is included here because the connections between equity, efficiency and liberty are closely related when you think about the question of “trade offs”. Since the concepts are closely connected, I include the material here and on week 8. You will also have questions on the midterm about these chapters and the idea of trade offs.
Assignments for the Week
For this post on Voice Thread you have two choices of topic. Since we didn’t have time to talk fully about the polis and market concepts of Stone and some of you had not yet purchased the text, I am giving you two options for your first post. The questions you can choose from are below.
Your first post is due on Voice Thread by midnight, Saturday, January 26th. But, because I am changing some things after meeting with you, you also have until February 2nd to make this post if you need the time. BUT BE AWARE that your next one is due February 9th, so you will have two due very close to each other if you wait until the 2nd.
Discuss how both the market and the polis concepts on public policy development are present in today’s political climate. OR
Discuss how Stone’s concepts of Equity and Efficiency are present in one current public policy debate.
