Stone – The Goal of Liberty
You will want to review Alexander’s Chapters on The Rebirth of Caste and Coates material so you complete your post. The important thing as you read Stone is to consider how the Liberty-Equality and Liberty- Welfare trade off debates interact with the issues they raised.
Objectives
Understand Stone’s concept of positive and negative liberty.
Develop a grasp the debate of a liberty-equality or liberty-welfare trade off.
Make the connection between the liberty debate and the racism debate.
